Field Details
Title DICE-LICIOUS ANIMAL BUFFET
Code SILK-II-001
Activity Goal To engage the child in feeding animals based on dice rolls, helping them develop counting, number recognition, sorting and vocabulary skills while encouraging imaginative play and creativity.
Skills Developed 3D shape • Counting and number recognition • Sorting and categorization • Vocabulary development • Animals and their food habits

Materials Needed

  • Animal dice: monkey, rabbit, cow, cat, dog, elephant
  • Number dice: 1, 2, 3, 4, two “try again” options
  • 36 food cutouts: 6 bananas, 6 sugarcanes, 6 carrots, 6 grass, 6 bones, 6 fish

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step Instruction
1 Set Up: Place all the food cutouts in a bowl. Assist the child in folding the animal and number dice to form 3D shapes.
2 Introduce the Activity: Explain that the child will first roll the animal dice to decide which animal to feed, and then roll the number dice to determine how many pieces of food the animal needs.
3 Roll the Animal Dice: Have the child roll the animal dice to choose the hungry animal. Say, “Whichever animal lands face-up is the one you’ll feed!”
4 Roll the Number Dice: Next, the child rolls the number dice. If a number between 1–4 is rolled, that’s how many pieces of food they’ll need to feed the animal. If “try again” is rolled, have the child roll the dice again.
5 Feed the Animal: Based on the animal rolled, the child selects the matching food and counts the correct number of pieces. They can pretend to feed the animal by placing the food cutouts in the “mouth” of the animal (on the animal dice).

Monkey: Bananas    Rabbit: Carrots    Cow: Grass    Cat: Fish    Dog: Bones    Elephant: Sugarcane
6 Repeat or Continue: Encourage the child to roll both dice again to feed another animal. Ask, “Which animal is hungry now?” Motivate them to count the food pieces each time they feed.
7 Praise and Clean Up: Acknowledge their effort with phrases like, “Great job! The rabbit loved the carrots!” After finishing, help them gather the cutouts and return them to the box.
