Step-by-Step Instructions

Step Instruction
1 Gather Materials:
Collect and organize all materials on a flat surface.
2 Read the Story with Enthusiasm:
Read the Healthy Harvest Run story aloud in a lively voice using playful modulations. Create excitement to engage the child and get them ready for the race ahead.
3 Prepare the Dice:
Help the child fold and assemble the paper dice with pictures of fruits and vegetables.
4 Set Up the Race:
Guide the child to place the fruit and vegetable cutouts at the start line on the activity sheet.
5 Explain the Rules:
Tell the child that each time they roll the dice, the fruit or vegetable that lands face-up will move one step forward. Continue until each fruit or vegetable reaches the finish line.
6 Start the Race:
Ask the child to roll the dice and name the fruit or vegetable that appears. Move the matching cutout forward one step. Repeat until all participants finish the race.
7 Discuss Participation:
As the race continues, talk about how participation is important for all fruits and vegetables, just like in real life.
8 Introduce Ordinal Numbers:
Once the race is over, help the child rank the fruits and vegetables by placing the ordinal number cutouts (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) based on the order in which they finished.
9 Celebrate Creativity:
Praise the child for their hard work, attention to detail, and participation in the activity.
10 Ask Questions:
Reinforce learning by asking:
• Can you name the 2nd place winner?
• What other fruits and vegetables participated in the race?
