- 5 flashcards with various Tangram patterns (Tree, House, Diya, Boat, Kite)
Step-by-Step Instructions
| Step | Instruction |
|---|---|
| 1 |
Set Up and Introduce the Activity: Place the Tangram pieces, activity board, and flashcards neatly in front of the child. Explain: “We are going to use these colourful shapes to make fun objects like a tree, house, or boat!” |
| 2 |
Explore the Tangram Shapes: Let the child freely touch and explore all 7 Tangram pieces. Use this time to name the shapes (triangle, square, parallelogram) and talk about their colours. |
| 3 |
Introduce the Flashcards: Show one flashcard at a time. Each flashcard displays a different object made using Tangram shapes. Explain how each picture is created by arranging the 7 shapes in a special way. |
| 4 |
Recreate a Tangram Shape: Ask the child to choose a flashcard and use the Tangram pieces to recreate the pattern on the activity board. Offer help if needed, but let them try first. |
| 5 |
Repeat with New Patterns: After completing one pattern, move to another flashcard and repeat the process. Encourage the child to observe differences and similarities between designs. |
| 6 |
Celebrate Their Success: Give positive reinforcement—cheer, give a high-five, and praise their effort! Example: “You made a kite all by yourself—great job!” |
| 7 |
Encourage Creative Exploration (Optional): Once the child is confident, invite them to create their own shapes or objects using the Tangram pieces. Let their imagination guide the way! |
