Step-by-Step Instructions

Step Instruction
1 Set Up the Materials:
Lay out the Word Families Adventure activity book on a flat surface, ensuring everything is easy to access.
2 Introduce the Activity:
Let the child flip through the book and observe its content. Explain that they’ll be working on different word families starting with the vowel ‘a’.
3 Explore Word Families:
Discuss ‘a’ vowel word families like ‘ab’, ‘ag’, ‘ad’, ‘am’, ‘an’, ‘at’, and ‘ap’. Encourage the child to sound out and read each family, starting with the “ab” family.
4 Guide Through the Activity:
Once the child reads a word family (e.g., “ab”), ask them to find and paste the corresponding sticker of a word from that family, like “cab”. Show how to locate and place the stickers in the correct spot.
5 Provide Assistance:
Help the child as needed with reading or sticker placement. For incorrect matches, gently guide them toward the correct pairing while offering positive reinforcement.
6 Praise the Effort:
Celebrate the child’s focus and progress, especially when they correctly match words and pictures. Offer encouragement often.
7 Move to the Next Level:
Once the child confidently reads and matches words from a family, move on to the next set of word families or introduce CVC, CVCC, and CCVC words.
